Bradbury, Wilkinson Photographic Essays

Spink in their 9 July 2013 Sale offered 153 A to Z lots of Contemporary Photographs from the Printer's Record Books. Lot 6 offered the 15 Essays as Illustrated

1956 First QEII Definitives SG 57 - 69

1963 Second QEII Bird Definitive SG 70 - 83 - In Blocks of four Unmounted mint

Variety 1½d with Cobalt Omitted SG 71a

The above is the only Missing Colour recorded and affects a small area around the Nest, the missing Cylinder Number confirms the omission, the pair at right is normal with all three cylinders in place. There were at least two sheets of this variety as I have seen a Cylinder block of four of the same variety - Grosvenor Auction Sale 56 Lot 1591 (May 1910)

Variety Watermark Inverted on 4½d Value The only other variety listed is a Watermark Inverted

SPECIMENS In Keeping with the Publicity Cards for the KGVI & 1956 QEII Definitives, a card for the 1963 Bird Definitives also exists and was offered at Grosvenor Auction Sale 16 as lot 119 Illustrated at right The Set cost 42/11d This is not entirely correct as it adds up to 42/11½d
